IN THIS LESSON

As you walk with Him more closely, you’ll learn to carry His authority with confidence and peace.

Spiritual authority isn’t about striving—it’s about abiding. The more intimately you know the One who called you, the more freely His authority flows through you. In Week 2, you’ll be invited to deepen your relationship with Jesus, so your authority is rooted in His presence, not performance.

    • Luke 10:19
“Behold, I give unto you power [authority] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Interpretation: Jesus gave believers spiritual authority over all the enemy’s power. Walking in this authority requires confidence in what has been granted.

    • John 6:63
“The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
Interpretation: Jesus’ words carry spiritual power. When we speak His words, we release life and truth into situations.

    • Matthew 12:36–37
“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Interpretation: Our words carry weight in the spiritual realm—they can align us with either life or destruction. Authority requires watchfulness over what we speak.

    • Ephesians 6:10–11
“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God…”
Interpretation: Spiritual strength is rooted in God's power, not our own. Authority is activated by putting on truth, righteousness, and the armor of God daily.

    • 2 Corinthians 10:4–5
“The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds…”
Interpretation: Our authority operates through spiritual weapons—truth, obedience, and the Word. These tools demolish lies and mental strongholds.

What examples from everyday life make this easier for you to relate to?

    2. In what ways have you unintentionally given up or ignored the authority God gave you?
How can you reclaim and begin exercising it today?

    3. Luke 10:19 says Jesus gave us authority over all the power of the enemy. Do you believe that personally? Why or why not?

    4. What’s the difference between having spiritual authority and actually using it?
Can you recall a time when you didn’t use your authority and later realized you should have?

    5. Why is it important to recognize that you do not have authority over another person’s will?
How does that impact the way you pray for others or offer counsel?

    6. John 6:63 teaches that the spirit gives life. What role does your confession and agreement with God’s Word play in activating your spiritual authority?

    7. What practical steps can you take this week to renew your mind and strengthen your understanding of the authority you’ve been given in Christ?
